Nobody buys the same thing twice
Anyone looking at your list can mark something as taken, and everyone else sees that it is spoken for. It is the useful half of a wedding registry, without the shop.
Say exactly which one
Add a link to the exact item and a note about the size or the colour. That is the difference between the jumper you wanted and a jumper.
One link, for everyone
Send the same link to your mother, your sister and whoever else asks. Add something in December and they all see it. There is nothing for them to install.
You are never shown what has been taken. Your own list looks exactly as you wrote it. Guests see what is spoken for; you see nothing — so the surprise holds.
Or ask somebody else
Send an invitation instead and they write their ideas straight into the page. That same link then shows what they wrote, to you and to anyone they pass it on to — so forwarding it is the right thing to do rather than a mistake.
Free, and quiet about you
